The Chickens

Said the f _ _ _ t first little chicken,
With a queer l _ _ _ _ e little squirm,
"I wish I _?_ could find
A fat little w _ _ m worm !"

Said the n _ _ t next little chicken,
With an o _ d odd little shrug:
"I _?_ wish I could find
A f _ _ fat little bug!"

Said the t _ _ _ d third little chicken,
With a s _ _ _ l small sigh of grief:
"I wish I could _?_ find
A g _ _ _ _ green little leaf!"

Said the f _ _ _ _ h fourth little chicken,
W _ _ h With a faint little moan:
"I wish _?_ I could find
A wee gravel s _ _ _ e stone !" "

Now s _ e see here!" said the mother,
From the g _ _ _ n green garden patch,
"If you want any b _ _ _ _ _ _ _ t breakfast ,
Just come here and s _ _ _ _ _ h scratch !"
